Climate Change Public Engagement and Education

Education, outreach, and engagement are critical to preparing communities for the effects of climate change. When it was founded in September 2019, the Village's Climate Smart Community (CSC) Task Force created a Public Engagement and Education team, which in turn developed a Public Outreach and Engagement Plan. The Plan documented Village efforts to engage the public, as well as local and regional partners, in taking steps to mitigate and adapt to climate change. Through collaboration with traditional and nontraditional stakeholder groups, the team hoped to identify a range of ways to to reduce GHG emissions and build community cohesion and resilience. 

The Village submitted documentation to acquire silver CSC status in July 2020 and, as part of that submission, included an Achievements Report to illustrate progress vis-à-vis what had been outlined in the Public Outreach and Engagement Plan.

Since then, we have produced a Public Outreach and Engagement Plan in September and an Achievements Report in June each year. For current and past versions see below:
